To clean your furniture, wipe with a soft, dry lint-free cloth. If that is not enough to remove dirt, use a slightly damp cloth. Please do not use any abrasives or cleaning products since they can damage the finish. Direct contact with rubber or certain plastics can also damage the finish. Do not set hot or damp items directly on your furniture. The use of humidifiers on or near your furniture may harm the finish. We always recommend you assemble the product on carpet or on the product packaging to prevent scratching. We also recommend purchasing teething rails/guards for your crib in the event your child is biting on the crib’s top rail. Avoid putting furniture in direct sunlight as it can cause the finish to fade.

Yes, it is very important that you anchor your dresser to the wall as recommended by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. If you have a hutch, the hutch should be anchored as well.
PREPARATION & MAINTENANCE
It is best when unfinished wood is finished before use, either with a quality natural oil wax engineered for furniture or a non-toxic paint/lacquer. If choosing to finish with oil, it is recommended to oil periodically to help keep the wood protected from changes in humidity and from potential dirt and oil stains caused by use.
The application of a clear oil will give the wood a slightly darker tone. We suggest applying a small amount to a discreet area to test the results.
You may want to finish the edge of the mattress support of the crib but the finishing the top and bottom is not necessary.
Surfaces must be cleaned of any grease, oils, dust, dirt, wax, adhesives and other foreign materials. Surfaces must be completely dry before finish application. You must follow the manufacturer’s instruction for a safe application and a quality finish. There are no shortcuts when it comes to finishing!
HEAVY SOILING OR STAINING of oiled furniture
Because the piece is solid wood, you also have the option of lightly sanding prior to oiling to restore it to its original condition. The piece will look brand new.
Patch where necessary, and sand surfaces with 220 grit sandpaper. Before applying oil finish, make sure surface is perfectly clean and free of dust, dirt and other foreign materials. Apply finish with rag. Let soak for 20 minutes, wipe off excess and reapply if necessary.
Drying conditions will vary greatly depending on application techniques and weather conditions. Allow 48 hours to dry before use. Typically cures to full hardness in 3 weeks. Dried surface can be buffed by hand or machine.
RECOMMENDED OIL/WAX FINISH
Oeuf recommends AFM Safecoat Naturals Oil Wax Finish. This is an organic plant-based premium hardener and sealer for woods. There are many other options to choose from and Oeuf does not intend to endorse any particular brand. It’s best to consult with a finishing expert from a quality paint dealer to learn about your options. (Typically, the folks working in the paint departments of Home Depot & Lowes would not be considered experts in furniture finishing.)
